Catching up on the Evening News

Bumbo Chair

Jeremy brought home a Bumbo chair for Elizabeth. Now that she can hold her head up she loves to sit up and see things. She can sit in this chair all by herself. She loves it!

Daisy Dukes

I found these cute little shorts yesterday at Target. I have been looking for a couple of weeks now. She has plenty of tops, but no bottoms.

Elizabeth continues to be happy. She has really developed a schedule so it has been easier to plan around it. We can't wait to go to Idaho on Monday.

Tummy Time

We have been working with Elizabeth to strengthen her neck and arm muscles so we have been putting her on her tummy. She does not like it very much. But, she loves spending time on her Daddy's tummy. I think it is the perfect distance for her to interact with him. She will sit and play like this for half an hour.

Off to the Post Office

It was cold this morning so I put Elizabeth's hat on her, but her head has grown so it doesn't fit over her ears. When she was first born that hat covered half of her head. It was in the low 60's this morning...cold for the middle of April in Arizona. The long sleeve onsie Grandma Olsen gave her has really come in handy.

On Her Back

Since Elizabeth was born, she has never liked sleeping flat on her back. She sleeps so much better in her swing sitting up. I think she can breathe better that way. But today, she fell asleep on our bed while I was getting ready for the day. She is growing and developing so quickly. I am so happy to be home with her.

Wiggle Wiggle

I put Elizabeth in her swing this afternoon and she wiggled the buckle part of the chair up with her legs so she could grab it. I don't buckle her in because she really hasn't had control of her body, but it looks like she can wiggle to get what she wants now.

Headed to Town

Elizabeth was being so cute when I put her in her car seat, I had to take pictures. We are out of almost all food items, so it is time to visit the grocery store.

Making room for Baby

Before I met Jeremy I drove this...

It was a great little car, and so fun to drive. However, it was by no means a family car. So, two weeks after we were married, we bought this...

When I met Jeremy, He drove this truck...

It was such a fun truck to have around, and it really came in handy. Since I have known Jeremy he has moved me 3 times in it, and it was very useful when we were building our house. But it doesn't sit three, and it isn't the most fuel efficient vehicle. So, Jeremy sold his truck yesterday and bought this...

We are hoping it will be a good little commuter car for Jeremy. He currently drives 110 miles each day to work and back and really needs something he can put miles on. When looking for a new vehicle, my request was that Elizabeth and I could fit in his car with him. And, now we have room for baby!

5:30 is too early on a Sunday

One thing Elizabeth got from me is waking up early in the morning. It is her favorite time of day. This morning she was ready to go at 5:30. Her parents were not. We had a little chat and explained to her that on weekends it is okay to sleep until 7. She just smiled and kicked her little legs.

Playmate

Reese came over last week to play with Elizabeth while her mom ran an errand. Reese is 6 months old. There is quite a size difference between the two. I had a good time playing with them both...but I know now I could never handle twins.

My Hands

Elizabeth is learning to open her hands to grab things. It is really fun to watch.

Happy Girl

Elizabeth has been a happy girl for the past two days. She has such a pleasant personality. In the mornings it has been fun to walk in her room to get her up for the day. When she sees me she gets so excited.

Spending time with Mom

A couple of nights ago Elizabeth was crying and we couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. So I stripped her clothes off and helped her relax on my shoulder and she fell right to sleep.

Elizabeth's Birth Story

Elizabeth was born Tuesday January 30, 2007. She surprised everyone by coming two and a half weeks early. I had been feeling minor contractions all weekend and was very uncomfortable. I went to work on Monday, but it was very hard to concentrate or do much of anything. I finally told my boss at 3:00 that I had enough for one day and went home. Once I drove the long 45 minute drive, I still could not get comfortable. I was having a very hard time breathing and my chest felt like it was being compressed causing me to really breath hard. Around 6:30 we decided to call the nurse hotline because I knew something was wrong. By 10:30 we were in the car driving to the hospital. After doing an exam, they discovered I was 2 cm dilated, so they admitted me and we started the labor process. I was miserable, not being able to breathe or relax. At 11:00 am I was dilated enough to have an epidural. At 1:00 the doctor came in and broke my water. At 9:00 that evening I was completely dilated and ready to push. Jeremy was so great and patient through the whole thing. I pushed for two hours, but the baby just would not come. Elizabeth Jane was born at 23:23 with the help of a vacuum extractor. She weighed 7 lbs and was 20 1/2 inches long.

Elizabeth's Easter Dress

Here is Elizabeth's Easter dress. Thank you Grandma Johnson for the dress. She loved grabbing the skirt and pulling it to her mouth. She is really getting the hang of those hands!

My own blog!

Elizabeth grows so fast! I have been meaning to create a blog since her birth, but am just getting to it. She is such a happy and content baby. We love her to pieces!
